CrabHat Studios is the vision of two avid board gamers, Mike & Cliff.
• Both Cliff and Mike have fond childhood memories of family gatherings around the kitchen table with a big bowl of popcorn and a board game. Board games have been a cherished part of Earth’s greatest civilizations and for good reason. Board games challenge the mind. They offer an escape from all of life’s woes, and they bring families and friends together. Now, Mike and Cliff have teamed up to design the most awesome games in the galaxy!
• Mike has been designing games for as long as he can remember. As a child growing up with severe dyslexia, designing games was a way for Mike to express his creativity and escape from the judging eyes of his teachers. Mike would constantly doodle game ideas in his spiral-bound school notebook growing up. He used to have elaborate space battles between good and evil, all drawn in these books. He also used to take existing games and create new games of his own. Have you ever played a combination of Monopoly, Backgammon, and Go Fish? Mike has!
• Mike's wife Jen here to chime in: It has to be said that Mike is the most frustrating person on the planet to play board games with because he will win the game - any game - every time. Not only will he win, but he will CRUSH you! And you will walk away saying, "I'm not even mad. That's amazing!" With such incredible board game skills, it was only a matter of time before Mike joined forces with Cliff to design an awesome board game.
• Cliff has been an avid tabletop game player his entire life. His love of strategy games began when his father taught him how to play chess at 6 years old. It wasn't until 2004 that he learned about Eurogames and bought his first - Settlers of Catan, and fell in love with the genre. 10 years later with a closet overflowing with games like 7 Wonders, Caylus, Dominion, Lords or Waterdeep and many others, Cliff is excited and proud to be able to help introduce a game that includes so many of his favorite game mechanics.
